For a moment it was bliss and then the bubble burst and there was no time. Would have been nice to be offered a little something to take away perhaps.
IF I ever return I will have to rush to the offerings and pile up my plate and quickly plough my way through and not relax or enjoy what I am eating.
A shame because I was really enjoying everything until being made aware that we had to get out asap. Lesson learned - just because it looks like a conservatory and has lovely offerings - beware the time limit.
If you're expecting a British Afternoon Tea experience then the Conservatory can only disappoint. Busy, noisy and with average levels of service the main pull seems to be the buffet of desserts which is vast and probably makes this value for money though not if you have a dairy allergy or are a vegan.
I bake dairy free desserts and cook to accommodate my own allergy medical, not fashion related and know how simple it is to do these options to a high standard.
The Conservatory unfortunately cannot say the same. I will credit the staff at the door as they were most open to feedback and kindly applied a discount for the poor level of service.
I can't deny it is very popular, as I say, probably value for money if you've no allergies in your party and are with a group rather than on your own.
A very nice restaurant for a big group, good option for having an event and suitable for family with young children.
The food selection was quite vary from fresh seafood, japanese sushi, italian pizza, indian curry, and chinese peking duck. Recommended for tourist.

I opted for an English Breakfast to soothe the stomach while enjoying an afternoon of deliciousness. We also enjoyed Piper-Heidsieck Rose Sauvage during the experience with free-flowing throughout our session.
It was all very pleasant to look at. The Spring Floral High Tea features seasonal flavours with this specially curated menu by world renowned dessert designer Marike van Beurden.
Marike worked in collaboration with Chef de cuisine Pastry Anthony Teva Dagorn. All in all High Tea at The Conservatory Crown Melbourne is such an elegant and opulent experience.
With a new menu for each season there is always an excuse to go and have high tea, whether it be to celebrate an occasion or an overdue catch up with the girls, The Conservatory at Crown will not disappoint.
They were having a promotion on the day we were there, and champagne was available, at an extra cost, if required. Everything was beautifully fresh.
The service could have been better though, I felt that the wait staff were ho-hum and it took a long time to get their attention, and for the coffee and tea to arrive after it had been ordered.
It was just the waiting staff that let them down. Non stop supply of lobster baked with butter, tender and juicy lobster is a must eat item Other seafood were also fresh The dessert table offer great choice of dessert, love the cheese cake and black forest.
The dessert items keep changing too, too many to choose from! Hi Michael, Thank you for your wonderful review. I am delighted to hear you enjoyed your recent dining experience at Conservatory.
Your compliments regarding the dishes on offer were greatly appreciated, I will be sure to share your review with the Restaurant Manager and the team.
We look forward to welcoming you back again in the near future. Sincerely, Oliver von Brunn General Manager - Restaurants. I'm trying to make it a habit on reserving this place whenever I come to Melbourne.
The food is fresh and they change the trays very frequently. They fill up the trays of seafood quite frequently too. The have a nice selection of entrees, mains and dessert!
Free glass of wine or soft drink as well during your buffet and you are seated to see the river of Melbourne.
Out of all the buffets I've been to, this is my favourite in Australia. Instead of finger sandwiches, there was peking duck pancakes, and dedicated Indian and Asian serving bars.
Rather than queuing up at the hot buffet stations on arrival, afternoon tea goers are now treated to their savouries served at their table on the requisite three-tier cake stand, with a selection of baked savouries on the bottom, three finger sandwiches with ultra-traditional fillings in the middle, and both plain and raisin scones taking out the top tier.
The finger sandwiches are done to absolute perfection, with generous, fresh fillings, while the pumpkin and parmesan parcel was the stand-out of the savouries.
Scones Traditional plain scones Sultana scones Accompanied by whipped cream, strawberry jam, blackberry jam, orange marmalade, orange compote and poached pears.
Sweets Chocolate mud cake Lemon meringue tart Carrot and walnut cake Chocolate brownies Paris brest choux Green apple and calvados tart Raspberry sacher cake Assorted candies and chocolates with the four flavours of chocolate fountain Fresh strawberries Assorted cut fresh fruits Assortment of ice cream and sorbet.
The Conservatory serves afternoon tea between 3pm and 5pm on Saturdays, and 3. Prices are correct at the time of publishing, but subject to change.
The scone is definitely the most important element of a high tea for Hannah, but service and atmosphere also rate highly. Share this: Click to share on Facebook Opens in new window Click to share on Pinterest Opens in new window Click to share on Twitter Opens in new window.
